Newborn Session FAQ’s
In order to best serve you I’ve compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions.
When should I book my newborn session?
Ideally, you should book your newborn session before your baby arrives in order to guarantee a date on my calendar. Typically, my newborn schedule is booked 4 weeks in advance.
What does the session fee include?
The session fee includes your session with me, my time and talent, and the creation of your images. Packages and products are sold separately.
How do I schedule a session?
Great! Once you’ve decided we are a match made in heaven just email me and we’ll get the ball rollin’. To secure your date I require the newborn session fee and a signed contract. An invoice for you to pay the fee will be sent and I will email you the contract to look over and e~sign. Once I have received both of those we are all set. Easy peasy!
What is the difference between a posed in studio session and a in home lifestyle session?
In studio sessions are done in my studio and achieve the posed newborn images you see all over my site. In home lifestyle sessions are done in the comfort of your own home. These sessions are focused on the family connection and are ideal if you have a nursery you’d like to showcase or a bright and airy home.
When will the session take place?
In studio newborn sessions occur within the first 14 days of your baby’s life. At this time, they are still very sleepy and fetal like and this is optimal to achieving my style of photography. Newborn lifestyle sessions have more flexibility and can occur withing the first 30 days of your baby’s life.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No! My studio is stocked with everything we need to achieve beautiful portraits of your baby. The last thing you need to worry about after giving birth is your session. I have done all the work for you. Once you book a session with me, you will receive a client questionnaire to help me customize the session just for you.
Do you use props in your newborn photography?
No. My photography style is classic, timeless, and unforced keeping all the focus on your delicate new baby.
How long will the session last?
In studio sessions last 2-4 hours allowing time for feeding and changing. Newborn lifestyle sessions done in your home last 1-2 hours.
What is my experience with newborns?
This is actually a question I wish was asked more. Knowing the experience and qualifications of the person handling your baby is the most important of all. Please do your research on this. Prior to becoming a newborn photographer I was a Labor and Delivery and newborn nursery nurse for 28 years. During that time I handled thousand’s of babies and have been well trained in newborn safety.
“My biggest fear was having a stranger moving our little baby around considering we barely let our friends hold him! We never even felt slightly concerned after meeting you! You not only made us feel comfortable, you made us feel like family and we absolutely trusted you with our son.” ~ Laura
“My favorite part was Amy taking the extra time with my baby. Newborn photos are not the easiest and require extra patience. Amy went over and beyond in making my baby comfortable and getting him to a state of relaxation where we could capture the most precious photos.” ~ Ryndee
