Makenna and Luke met while attending school at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
In Makenna’s words, “We went to dinner a few days after we first met We shared some wings and Luke got this giant fruity drink (he LOVES juice), which I thought was funny. We were pretty much the only two people in the restaurant, and we spent 2 hours just talking. We were inseparable after we met. I (Makenna) was actually supposed to go study abroad in Paris that semester, but I made a last-minute major change, so I wasn’t able to go unless I wanted to take an extra semester to finish school (I didn’t).”
“We were living in Cape Cod at the time. We are morning people, so we woke up early and Luke asked if I wanted to go on a hike. There aren’t a ton of trails near our house, but there is one supposedly beautiful trail called the Knob that I’d been wanting to try. We arrived, and of course, the entire thing is under construction! One of the trails was open, so we started walking and Luke kept trying to get me to hop over to another one of the trails that were closed, and I was not having it (not a big rule breaker). However, he did convince me after a few attempts, and we came to the end of the trail. It was beautiful! We walked up a set of stone stairs to this lookout where you had 360-degree views of the ocean. I thought it was a great photo opportunity, so I took a few pictures of Luke on this stone bench. He asked to switch places and when I got up on the bench and turned around, he was on one knee! He asked me to marry him and of course, I said yes!! Immediately after, I had him take me to go get my nails done so we could share the good news with friends and family.” – Makenna
Makenna and Luke moved to Manhattan after graduation and these two New Yorkers decided to have a destination wedding in Texas.
They had a modern fall wedding at Two Wishes Ranch in Lockhart, Texas. The venue sits on several acres of wide-open land with a majestic gray barn in true elevated Texas style.
Ashtyn of Lila Lane Events did an incredible job navigating the planning of their wedding and giving them the day of their dreams.
Rain and wind brought on plan B and the ceremony was moved inside the barn. The grand doors were opened giving their guests a magical view of the land behind the couple as they said their vows.
The evening continued with a lovely plated dinner, toasts, and lots of laughter. The rained cleared and the party concluded outdoors for an evening of dancing under the big Texas stars.
