Who’s ready for summer?! I know I am! Here’s a look back at May and a few personal updates. 

Style Me Pretty Feature

Davey & Krista’s Ad Campaign 

It’s been fun seeing my work pop up on the ad campaign for Davey and Krista. They are brand and website designers for creative businesses and reached out to me to use some of my imagery. And, Amy Odom Photography will be launching a new website late this summer.

What We’ve Been Up To 

Dan and I celebrated my birthday with a dinner at Red Ash. It was so good. Dan claims he ate the best steak of his life there. We are breaking our no double dipping in 2023 rule and taking my father there in July. The earliest reservation we could get!

We also had a great wood-fired pizza at Cipollina while out and about.

Side note, I feel like I’m the only one on planet Earth who hasn’t been to the Taylor Swift concert!

Are any readers out there? I’ve had my nose deep in business and personal development books. A friend recommended I try a Freida McFadden book. You know, something for fun? I read Never Lie. It was a Psychological Thriller with a good twist at the end.

This was a busy and exciting month for us. We celebrated 3 May weddings. Congratulations to Hannah and John, Camille and Ryan, and Mary Beth and Kerby! I’ll never stop saying I have the best job in the world!

And, we photographed 5 beautiful engagement sessions and Bella’s bridals. Bella and Hayden are getting married Saturday…eeee!!!

Design Inspiration

 I’m a big fan of color theory and color story. I will weave your color story throughout the day as I’m photographing it. It creates a beautifully cohesive final gallery.

I have a folder on my computer of interesting color palettes and tones that capture my eye. It’s a great way to get creative inspiration when choosing colors for projects like your wedding day! Think about how you can use it as a jumping point for your bridesmaid’s dresses, accessories, florals, linens, invitations, and so on! 

Here is an example of a recent photo I collected because I love the color and tones, how they work together, and are complimentary on the color wheel, yet in unexpected hues. My brain immediately saw this in a colorful, out-of-the-box spring or summer wedding.

Wedding Day Tips

Mismatched bridesmaid’s dresses are all the rage right now. Here’s how to make it work:

• Incorporate different patterns and textures, and don’t be afraid to add a solid to break it up and add interest.
• Using different shades and tones of the same color work great or use the color wheel to mix and match complimentary colors like the photo above. I haven’t seen this done and think it would be a wow factor! Who’s game?!
• Give your bridesmaids the freedom to choose a dress they feel most comfortable in and that flatters their body type.

I made this BANANA, WALNUT & CHOCOLATE COOKIE CAKE 

from Joy the Baker over the holiday weekend. The family dug in spoons first and devoured it. This is a quick and yummy recipe.
