The April Digest

Wedding Planning

And just like that, it’s May and the spring season is full steam ahead. Here’s a look back at April and a few wedding day tips and special offers.

Exciting News

A big congratulations to Makenna and Lucjan. Their Two Wishes Ranch Wedding will be featured in the printed edition of Brides of Austin this fall.

And, it was super exciting to see my work printed in this month’s issue of Tribeza Austin.

What We’ve Been Up To

Dan and I celebrated his birthday with a dinner at Jeffrey’s. It was delicious and I recommend it for a special occasion. I had the best cocktail of my life…Sherry Cobbler. I’m still dreaming about it.

This was a busy and exciting month for us. We also celebrated 5 April weddings. Congratulations to Maddie Grace and Hunter, Elyse and Brian, Emma and Michael, Taylor and Branden, and Kaitlyn and Rayce! I’ll never stop saying I have the best job in the world!

And, we photographed a handful of beautiful engagement and bridal sessions. The spring flowers have been showing off this year!

Vendor Highlight #1 – The Famer and I

If you haven’t seen Carrington’s floral magic you’re in for a treat. Her design aesthetic is romantic and whimsical. Her bridal bouquets are at the top of my list of favorite designers.

She recently flowered Emma and Michael’s wedding.

Vendor Highlight #2 – Vogue Vignette

If you’re looking for a unique addition and fun guest experience to add to your wedding check out Vogue Vignette. Guests will enjoy a live on-site sketch artist and be able to take home an adorable frame-worthy piece of art.

Wedding Day Tips

Do you love the styled detail photos of your paper goods and bridal accessories? These photos take time and planning ahead to create.

  • Realistically, allow one hour in your timeline to create these images. These photos typically include the dress, shoes, veil, jewelry, rings, bouquet, boutonniere, and the paper goods (invitation suite, programs, and menu).
  • They always look better when flowers from your wedding day are included. You must communicate this with your florist ahead of time. Often, you will need to add a separate line item to your floral order. If the florist is unaware of this ahead of time there are not usually not enough or any flowers for the detail photos.
  • The florist must have the flowers available when the photographer arrives. Often, the florist arrives after the photographer and these are the first photographs captured on the day of your wedding. Once the bride gets dressed it’s too late.

Wedding Hashtags

How do you feel about them? I personally like to see all the clever hashtags ya’ll come up with. Recent good one: #schmidtsabouttogetreal. The groom’s father referenced it several times during his toast to the couple.

What I’m Loving

I’m always on the hunt for a summer sandal. I bought these in the tan suede and immediately went back and bought the gold. They are cute (even cuter in person) and comfortable.

I was recently listening to a podcast and this struck me hard. “Feed what you want to grow.” This is such a good reminder to nurture and make time for the things that are important to you. I’m currently feeding more into Dan and my health. I’m currently on day 7 of a 30 day version of the 75 hard challenge. Pray for me! Two workouts a day and a gallon of water is no joke!

We love pasta in our house thanks to my Italian mother. We’ll be trying this for dinner this week.

Next Up

We’re looking forward to another full month in May of weddings and engagement sessions.
