The Mansion in Austin, Texas

The Mansion Austin opened its doors in 1931. Formerly known as the TFWC mansion (Texas Federation of Women) this majestic home in the heart of Austin is a breathtaking venue to host a romantic wedding day or other special events. It’s an ideal location near the heart of downtown Austin located at 2312 San Gabriel St. The Mansion Austin wedding venue was an ideal location for Paige and Jack’s elegantly traditional wedding.

This Victorian mansion is a Texas historic landmark turned event venue and is impeccably manicured maintaining its charm, classic elegance, and all the magic of the 1930’s. It’s no wonder it’s one of my favorite wedding venues with all its classic elegance.

The Mansion Austin Indoor Event Spaces

The Georgian Tea Room

Back in the 1930s and 40s, the Georgian Tea Room was all the buzz as a charming tea room. Today, you can still spot the classic hat-check stand, and the room is decked out with original hardwood floors and cozy wall sconces. It’s a mini ballroom, boasting grand windows and a high, arched ceiling. This spot offers a warm and inviting space for intimate wedding ceremonies, comfortably fitting up to 144 guests.

On this day, we used the beautiful room for Paige’s getting-ready location instead of the designated bridal suite.

The Grand Ballroom

The elegant 18th century ballroom has oak flooring that stretches across a vast area of over 4,000 square feet, while the ceiling reaches an impressive height of nearly thirty feet. The Grand Ballroom is versatile, ideal for hosting both wedding ceremonies and reception space, accommodating a max capacity of 300 guests along with a room for a band or DJ on the spacious, draped stage. The ambiance of the room is enhanced by classic bronze and crystal wall sconces, casting a warm glow with seventy candle-like bulbs and a thousand glistening crystal accents.

Since January may not have ideal weather for an outdoor wedding Paige and Jack opted to have both their ceremony and reception in this grand space.

After the ceremony, the Mockingbird Lane Events team had a fabulous planning process to quickly transform the ballroom into a grand reception space for everyone to dine, mingle, and dance the night away on the dance floor.

The Formal Dining Room

The Mansion boasts one of its most refined and inviting areas. A large bay window with large glass windows offers a picturesque view of the Garden Courtyard, and the baby grand piano stands at the ready for a musical interlude.

The Victorian Parlor

This charming room features a cozy fireplace, a wall adorned with golden mirrors, and classic antique furniture to create a warm ambiance. Chairs and sofas are thoughtfully arranged to encourage comfortable and effortless conversation. A perfect gathering spot for guests during cocktail hour.

The Library

This cozy hideaway showcases a unique assortment of historic Texana, featuring books authored by and highlighting significant women. Complete with a welcoming fireplace and vintage sofas and armchairs, it’s a perfect spot for relaxation.

Paige and Jack had a large 220-person guest count and utilized all three of these warm and welcoming spaces for their guests to enjoy cocktail hour while waiting for the wedding festivities to continue.

The Mansion Austin Outdoor Event Spaces

The Garden Courtyard

This charming space boasts a gently flowing stone fountain, an elegant pergola inspired by Greek architecture, and an array of vibrant, seasonal native Texas blossoms. Leading out from the ballroom, it offers a cozy setting for up to 160 guests, perfect for an intimate ceremony during good weather. It would also be an ideal location for making a whimsical wedding in a garden. Additionally, the Garden Courtyard can be arranged as a complementary outdoor extension to the Grand Ballroom, allowing for a unique indoor-outdoor reception.

We utilized this space for an after-the-ceremony gathering spot for portraits to include family formals, wedding party, and the bride and groom. The guests enjoyed mingling while they sipped champagne and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres.
