In my early days of nursing I worked in Labor and Delivery at Scott and White Hospital ( now known as Baylor Scott and White).

This is a wonderful teaching hospital and in June of every year a new batch of eager Resident’s begins a 3-4 year program in their area of special interest. This is a long and grueling curriculum with long days, lots of call, and hours away from family.

During this time I met a young cowboy boot wearing doctor named Tony McDowell. We worked together for 4 years and when his residency was completed he went on to Victoria, Texas to start his practice as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist.

Fast forward to today.

There is an adorable young couple, Thomas and Lauren, in my studio and we get to chatting about where they are from. It turns out, they are from Victoria, Texas. It also just so happens that their last name is McDowell. I mention that I had a friend years ago that I worked with in the hospital that has the same last name and is now practicing physician in Victoria.

The young man looked at me and said, “Amy, that’s my dad.”

What?! Talk about a small world.

Meet Konzen, the adorable little grandson of this lovely couple and a long lost friend. What a special privilege it was to photograph this new life.

Thomas, Lauren, and Konzen…what a beautiful family they have created together.

This little guy comes from a long line of family ranchers.

They brought this beautiful saddle and away we went.
