Her hair is short and disheveled and she is wearing that familiar tattered nightgown as she stands over the kitchen stove. It’s Sunday morning and in a few hours the house will be filled with the spicy aroma of my mom’s spaghetti sauce, simmered all day over a low burner until perfection has been achieved. Sunday’s were sacred in our home, a tradition implemented by my mom. This was the day for family, rest, and a good meal. I loved everything about Sunday…except it was followed by Monday.
My mom taught me the fine art of simmering that sauce to a mouthwatering masterpiece for my own family, which unfortunately does not happen every Sunday. To this day, I cannot make a batch of that sauce without thinking of my mom.
On May 11th, Mother’s Day will be celebrated across the oceans. I want to wish all my wonderful clients, past and present, Happy Mother’s Day. To all mother’s celebrating their first Mother’s Day, welcome to the wonderful world of Motherhood.
