Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a styled editorial at Austin’s newest wedding venue, The Arlo. If you haven’t already heard about this stunning spot, you definitely have to check it out. A perfect combination of luxury, minimalist spaces and rustic design elements, any couple can transform this space into the wedding of their dreams.
The Arlo is a brand new build, completed in February of 2021, in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Just 20 minutes from Downtown Austin, this spot provides you with stunning panoramic views of the countryside while still being close enough to the city to offer a variety of hotel options for your guests.
The Arlo property is made up of two buildings and several outdoor spaces, allowing you to pick and choose the best combination for your day. I was able to view all of them during my visit, and I truly recommend visiting to tour the spaces yourself to get a feel for how elegant they are!
The Ballroom truly felt like the heart of The Arlo, with over 4,500 square feet and 22-foot ceilings. As a photographer, I’m always looking for natural light, so I absolutely love the walls lined with oversized iron framed windows. This space is truly a blank canvas for a stunning reception. We accented the space with deep jewel tones, but the wood floors and white walls can compliment any palette you have in mind.
If you plan to have an indoor ceremony at The Arlo, Storie Hall is likely the spot you will choose. With crisp white walls and exposed wooden beams, this space is a perfect neutral backdrop to the most important moment of the night. You’ll get to say your “I do” in front of a stunning 18-foot window, with a view of the countryside no matter the weather.
One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous venue was the getting ready spaces. As a photographer, I have seen my fair share of brides cramped into hotel rooms with all of their bridesmaids, but you won’t have to do that here. The Arlo provides a gorgeous airy bridal suite called The Lounge in the main house, and even provides a grooms suite in The Cottage on the property. If you want stunning getting ready photos with your loved ones, this room is a must-have.
If an outdoor ceremony is everything you’ve dreamed of, The Arlo’s Lawn is a spectacular, upscale version of the classic Hill Country wedding. The show-stopper feature is a gorgeous white and cream fireplace, serving as a stunning backdrop to your vows. Reilly and Rose installed the most incredible floral piece on the fireplace for our shoot, and it was definitely the star of the show.
As you approach the front door of the Arlo, you enter a quaint outdoor space, aptly called The Courtyard. This space is potentially the most versatile of all, but our use of the space for a glamorous cocktail hour felt just right. Two trees frame a statement window into the Ballroom, allowing the venue to feel completely cohesive, even though it offers so many different spaces.
Thank so much to The Arlo for having me and showing me around their wonderful space! And thank you to all the other wonderful vendors who were a part of this styled shoot.
