If you’ve been following me for any length of time you know how much I love the Canyonwood Ridge wedding venue, in Dripping Springs! It’s just a short 20-minute drive from downtown Austin. When Kristin and Michal’s wedding planner, Amanda Bleu Events, contacted me about their wedding I was elated! Kristin is an Air Force officer stationed in Seoul, South Korea, and Amanda did an incredible job of designing and planning Kristin and Michael’s perfect day.
Kristin and Michael met in 2016 when they stood in a wedding together in San Antonio, Texas, where Michael is from. Kristin is good friends with the bride and Michael is good friends with the groom. So, naturally, they stood in Kristin and Michael’s wedding too!
Michael told Kristin hat he wanted them to celebrate the 4th of the July at the National Harbor together. It was the second week she and Michael were reunited after months apart due to COVID. Michael told her to pick out a nice dress and had her go through the entire closet to find the right one, rejecting most of the dresses that she initially considered. Once they got in the car to leave, Kristin could sense Michael was a little nervous. They went to the National Harbor where they had dinner. Afterwards, then went on a walk by the pier and watched the water and Ferris wheel. The next thing Kristin knew, Michael went down on one knee, and next thing she knew, they were engaged!
Canyonwood Ridge is a gorgeous Dripping Springs wedding venue flooded with an abundance of natural light. Canyonwood Ridge has indoor and outdoor ceremony space options for beautiful and unpredictable weather. Kristin and Michael had their romantic and emotional wedding ceremony in the indoor chapel. It was so special that one of Kristin’s friends and co-workers in the US Airforce officiated their wedding.
The portraits took place outdoors on the great lawn nestled in the oak trees and best known for the dramatic views of the scenic hill country. The blush color palate Kristin chose for the attire really popped against all the breathtaking scenery. In fact, the day looked and felt more like a spring day than a January day.
The lawn also provided a welcome area for the family and friends to enjoy cocktail hour before entering the reception.
The large reception hall transitions beautifully from the indoor chapel. Kristin and Michael chose a blush, gold, and cream color story with a very candle heavy presence. All the candlelight gave a dreamy and romantic vibe to the evening.
The evening was full of good food, great company, heart-warming toasts, and lots of dancing! They also played the shoe game which is always good for crowd laughter!
At the end of the evening, they walked through a canopy of sparklers held by their cheering family and friends.
It was a perfect evening!
Kristin and Michael, thank you for inviting us into your magical day to share and capture all the joy! We wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
Here are just a very few of my favorite images from their day.
I have to pause here for a moment. This picture of Kristin below is so moving and real. One of the things Kristin was most excited about for her wedding day was getting to celebrate something she’d prayed for since she was a little girl…her life partner, Michael (cue the tears). This is the moment her Matron of Honor mentioned that in her toast. It was one of many beautiful moments.
