When Alex and Dylan chose The Driskill for their black tie spring wedding, they embraced everything this historic Austin venue has to offer – blending timeless sophistication with touches of Texas charm for an unforgettable celebration. Their vision for a formal yet warmly inviting event found its perfect expression in the hotel’s distinctive spaces and atmosphere.

The morning began in The Driskill’s luxurious Cattle Baron suite, where Alex and the wedding party prepared for the day. The hotel’s Victorian-inspired rooms, with their soaring ceilings and abundant natural light, created the perfect backdrop for those precious getting-ready moments. The spacious suite provided ample room for hair and makeup artists to work their magic while champagne was served.

Meanwhile, Dylan and the groomsmen enjoyed the distinguished atmosphere of the Lyndon B. Johnson suite, with its bright rooms and Texas-inspired dรฉcor providing a handsome setting for pre-wedding preparations. This historic space, with its leather furnishings, added a distinctly Austin touch to the groom’s experience.

As an Austin wedding photographer, The Driskill offers countless opportunities for breathtaking imagery. We took advantage of the hotel’s grand balcony for dramatic portraits, creating images that showcase both the architectural beauty and the couple’s elegant attire. The hotel’s rich textures and historic details provide depth and character impossible to find in newer Austin venues.

We stepped outside to capture the couple against the hotel’s iconic limestone exterior with the vibrant downtown Austin streetscape. These images not only showcase The Driskill’s distinctive architecture but also place the wedding firmly in the context of Austin’s unique urban landscape, creating images that are unmistakably “Austin” while remaining elegant and timeless.

As guests arrived at The Driskill, they were greeted by the hotel’s magnificent lobby with its marble floors and stained-glass dome. The century-old architectural details immediately set the tone for this elevated Austin celebration, with the hotel’s historic charm evident in every direction.
The ceremony took place in the Mezzanine, where crystal chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling-white draping cast a warm glow over the proceedings. With its 16-foot ceilings and ornate moldings, the mezzanine provided an atmosphere of timeless elegance that perfectly suited the formal occasion.
The couple chose a classic black and white color palette accented with lush white spring florals, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that perfectly complemented The Driskill’s Victorian architecture. As Alex walked down the aisle, the ornate details and dramatic columns framed the moment beautifully, creating an unforgettable scene in this iconic Austin venue.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in The Driskill’s Ballroom, where the hotel’s iconic longhorn insignias and Texas-inspired artwork provided a distinctive Austin touch to the elegant proceedings. The reception in The Driskill’s Mezzanine transformed the historic space into a scene of modern elegance. Crystal candelabras and lush white floral arrangements adorned tables draped in crisp white linens, while strategic lighting highlighted the room’s architectural features. The Driskill’s executive chef created a custom menu featuring elevated Texas cuisine, honoring both the venue’s heritage and the couple’s sophisticated tastes. The multi-course dinner featured locally-sourced ingredients presented with artistic flair, elevating traditional Texas flavors to match the formal atmosphere of this downtown Austin celebration.

As dinner concluded, guests moved to the dance floor where an Austin-based DJ kept the celebration going until late in the evening.
