During my recent trip to Utah, I photographed this beautiful editorial styled elopement at Guardsman Pass. Located less than an hour outside of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains, this is a gorgeous spot for couples looking to have an intimate elopement in the Utah wilderness.
This shoot was planned by the wonderful Clay Austin and Type A Society, who focused on a palette of steel blue and mustard yellow to emphasize the golden leaves on the Aspen trees during the fall. Their use of nude dried flowers and a unique color palette was a refreshing alternative to the common red and maroon hues of fall weddings. After the rustic outdoor ceremony, the reception table set with tapered candles and Chiavari chairs created an elegant oasis in the woods for our upscale elopement.
Guardsman Pass is located in Wasatch National Forest and for groups of less than 75 people, you don’t need a permit to elope on the land. Utah allows anyone over the age of 18 to become an ordained minister, so you can have a friend or family member perform your mountaintop wedding ceremony! The area is also largely accessible by car, making it easier to bring your family along with you and eliminating the need to hike long distances in your wedding attire. Although the area becomes inaccessible during the winter months, our fall elopement at Guardsman Pass was absolutely stunning, and I highly recommend anyone looking to have a destination elopement in Utah to check out this wonderful spot.
Being a part of this styled elopement at Guardsman Pass was truly a delight. If you are looking to elope in the Utah mountains surrounded by stunning golden Aspen trees, Guardsman Pass is an amazing place to do so.
