The Grand Lady in Austin holds a special place among Texas wedding venues, and I was thrilled when Catherine chose it for her bridal session. Today, I’m sharing some favorites from our afternoon capturing her bridal portraits at this beautiful historic property.
The Grand Lady’s classic architecture and well-kept gardens create an ideal setting for bridal portraits. The venue features clean white columns, gorgeous staircases, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that work with any bridal style. We took full advantage of the variety of backdrops, moving between the indoor and outdoor spaces to create a diverse collection of images for Catherine.
Catherine chose a gown that perfectly balanced classic sophistication with striking details. The intricate beadwork caught the light like frost, creating a stunning ice princess effect that elevated the traditional silhouette. The natural light at The Grand Lady is one of its best features. I used the light streaming through the large windows to create dramatic portraits, capturing the images on both digital and film cameras. This mixed-medium approach allowed me to create a rich, varied collection that showcases the subtle tones and textures of the venue and Catherine’s gown. We moved from the grand entrance to the intimate courtyard spaces, finding unique spots to showcase both the details of her dress and her natural personality.
