After two bad weather reschedules we finally got some good weather for Maddie Grace and Hunter’s engagement shoot. As they say, “the third time’s the charm” and it was worth the wait. We decided to do their engagement photos at McKinney Falls State Park. I teased Hunter that he wins the prize for fiance’ of the year because we did their session on the evening of Super Bowl Sunday!!!
Texas is full of many state parks and we’re lucky to have this beautiful one right here in the Austin area. It’s always the perfect location for some romantic engagement sessions. It was the first time Maddie Grace and Hunter had been to McKinney Falls and we got to explore many beautiful locations. We had lots of good conversation, laughs, and so much fun the entire time.
Golden hour didn’t disappoint and we captured some beautiful sunset photos among the rocks. These two were such good sports they even dipped their toes in the water despite the frigid February temperatures.
Maddie Grace and Hunter also have a romantic proposal story!
“Hunter proposed to me on the night before my college graduation. For months, I knew both of our families were coming to town that night for a joint family graduation dinner celebration (or so I thought). He told me my mom had a graduation gift that was too big to wrap, so she wanted me to wear a blindfold when we arrived at the restaurant, that way it wasn’t spoiled upon arrival (my mom is extra EXTRA dramatic so this was 1000000% believable). About two minutes before we arrived where we were going, Hunter had me put on the blindfold. When we parked, he helped me out of the truck and told me he saw our moms standing together. I asked if the gift was there and he laughed and said yes! So, I held onto his arm while he guided me “to the restaurant door”. As we got closer, I started to hear music playing and then shortly realized the song playing was our song (Here Goes Nothing by Muscadine Bloodline). Soon after, I heard cameras rapidly clicking and told myself there was no way this was what I thought it was. He asked me to step up onto something and about 30 seconds later instructed me to remove my blindfold. When I removed it, Hunter was standing in front of me down on his knee sobbing, smiling, and shaking, trying to get out the words “Will you marry me?” As soon as he said those words, I heard celebrations. I looked around and realized both of our families were standing right there behind us, watching the entire thing. We were standing on a private dock in Gruene, TX about two hours before sunset. There was a knitted blanket spread out over the dock with rose petals scattered over the top. A side table was beside Hunter with a fresh bouquet of roses, champagne, and a special picture frame of the two of us. It was a dream come true and a moment I will never forget.” – Maddie Grace
