Prospect House Wedding | Dripping Springs, Texas
Abbey and Weston
Days like today are what my dreams are made of!
As a creative artist and wedding photographer, I believe it’s important always to be learning, stretching myself, and reawakening my creativity. I deserve it, and my clients deserve it. This February I spent the day immersed in Kayla Barker’s Fine Art Wedding Workshop at the Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas. The Prospect House is a modern wedding and event venue seeded in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. This was a creative workshop for film photographers and hybrid photographers (those of us who use both film and digital mediums to produce our work). The latter category is where I fall, but wish to venture less and less with the comfort of my digital camera. I love film for so many reasons. It’s romantic and nostalgic for sure. But, film has taught me to slow down, look, breath, and think long before I press the shutter. This slowing down and thoughtfulness has made me a better photographer and in some ways, to see with new eyes. These are the type of things my creative souls needs. I love to surround myself and be inspired by other artists to see things in a new way. Then, apply the tips and techniques to my work and give it my own flair. I believe that it’s when I’m most uncomfortable that and I push through it the most significant return prevails.
All of this was made possible by an amazing team of vendors!

One Year Birthday Session ~ Central Texas Baby Photographer
I spent a chilly evening in February with Magnolia, her grandparents, and her Aunt capturing a surprise birthday session for her sweet mama! I love surprises!
Magnolia is a living doll, and she was a rock star despite the chilly weather!
She had her first birthday party this weekend, and I can finally show her pretty session now. We didn’t want to ruin her mama’s surprise!
I’m told it was a big hit full of tears, and I got a thoughtful message from her mama later that evening…melts my heart!
We ended the session with a good ole cake smash! This adorable little naked cake was made by Lily’s Cakes!
Do you have a little one about to celebrate their big first birthday? Would you like to document it with a one year birthday session?
I’d love to help you record this milestone to help you remember forever!

Congratulations! You just got engaged, and now your head is swirling with all the wedding planning! You are probably wondering if an engagement session should be a priority on your long list of plans. If you ask me, the answer is absolutely an YES!!!!
Here is a list of my top 4 reasons to do engagement photos.
- Get to Know Your Photographer. Most wedding photographers offer engagement sessions and for a good reason. It’s the perfect way to spend some time with and get to know your photographer BEFORE the wedding day. Your photographer will spend hours with you on your wedding day documenting every critical detail. It’s essential to establish a comfortable relationship beforehand. An engagement session is a perfect way to bond!
- Get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding. Most people feel nervous in front of the camera. It’s normal to get those little butterflies when your in front of someone’s lens. Getting in front of your photographer’s camera before your wedding day will help you feel more relaxed and natural on your wedding day. This will result in more natural photos.
- A chance to express yourselves as a couple. Engagement photos are the perfect way to show who you are as a couple. You will be dressed in your regular clothes to showcase your personality. Choose a location that means something to you both. Are the two of you free-spirited and outdoorsy or artsy and sophisticated?
- You’ll have photos for wedding benefits. There are so many ways to use your engagement pictures during your wedding planning. Many couples use them for save the date cards, their wedding website, guestbook, thank you cards and so much more! If you plan to use your engagement images for any of these, the best time to do the session is 8-10 months before the wedding!
BONUS! It’s so much fun!!!
Have I convinced you yet?!

A Laguna Gloria Engagement Session
Yep…that’s right folks! These two lovebirds are so adorable they get a two-part blog post!
Michelle and Steven are the kinds of people I felt an instant connection to the minute I met them. They are outgoing, welcoming, playful, and warm. Honestly, the type of people I could hang out with ALL DAY!
We chose their engagement session location after I got a little backstory on their engagement and fast approaching wedding. Steven set up a romantic surprise proposal on a trip to Ireland where he proposed to Michelle at the Cliffs of Moher! Um…hello? Romantic much?! And, if that isn’t awesome enough, they are jetting off to Costa Rica to tie the know and say their forever “I Do’s” to one another. So, with all that in mind, I thought the lush European ambiance of Laguna Gloria where just what these two jet-setters needed!
We also decided to do two outfits, one casual and one dressy. So, that warranted to blog posts to show off each part of their beautiful photos.
Michelle and Steven, thank you for sharing your love story with me, and I can’t wait for the two of you to tie the knot in July!
Are you newly engaged? I’m now booking 2018-19 weddings and I’d love to chat with you about documenting your love story!

Blushing Bride inspired shoot at the Wildflower Wedding and Event Venue
I had the pleasure of driving up to Emory, Texas last week for a styled bridal session at the Wildflower Wedding and Event Venue in Emory, Texas. This shoot was put together by the talented Jennifer Wax, of JL Glamour Photography. The shoot took place at the lovely Wildflower Wedding and Event Venue, a brand new wedding venue. The location is amazing! The wildflower has all the country charm with its big white barn, lush acreage, and a big bass pond. It’s just a scenic drive away from Dallas.
Her creativity paired with hair and makeup from Mariposa Makeup Artistry and Southern Veils, calligraphy from Santina Rose Design, gown form Pence and Panache, and of course, the beautiful model Brittany, turned out to be the perfect combination. I love how this shoot came together.
There is nothing like working with other creatives with like-minded visions and goals to get me inspired. These types of creative experiences get me all fired up, and I love meeting new people in my industry!
Here are some of my favorite images from this blushing bride inspired styled session.
